AWARD Network Summer Training Institute 2026
The Advancing Workforce Analysis and Research for Dementia (AWARD) second Summer Training Institute will be held the week of July 20-24, 2026 in San Francisco, CA. The Summer Institute will be full-day and in-person.
The goal of the Summer Institute is to train early-stage researchers, such as doctoral candidates working on their dissertation, post-doctoral scholars, and assistant professors, in understanding concepts underlying research on the health and long-term care workforce that serves people living with dementia (PLWD) and developing approaches to conducting and disseminating such research.
The Summer Institute will offer didactic and interactive training on topics ranging from workforce definitions and labor economics to clinical dementia care and public policy, including state and federal regulations impacting the workforce. The program may include site visits to one or more sites involved in dementia research and health and long-term care programs supporting PLWD. We will address quantitative and qualitative research methods, funding mechanisms and grant writing, research dissemination and outreach, and leadership development. The program will include group mentoring and networking opportunities, and participants will leave with actionable next steps.
We will be accepting up to 20-22 participants in the Summer Institute. Participants must be from a U.S.-based institution. Stipend funding of $1700 will be available to assist with expenses. Participants will be responsible for arranging their housing and travel. We are happy to assist with housing recommendations.
